Holiday Stewed Fruit

This dessert is perfect to make around the holidays because it fills your entire house with great holiday spice aromas and it warms you up on a cold night! So I couldn't think of a better way to welcome the holidays to my blog than with this recipe!  Not to mention, it's pretty darn tasty too!

Here's what you need:
3 lbs of fruit (apples and pears are great for this)
1 1/4 C. sucanat (you can use regular sugar, but sucanat is better for you)
2 tsp. lemon zest
Juice of 2 lemon wedges
2 tsp of Pumpkin Pie Spice (or you can use your own preferred combination of ground cinnamon, ground clove, and ground nutmeg)
Water to fill the crock pot

Rinse and peel your fruit

Slice your fruit and place in a crock pot

Add lemon zest and lemon juice

Add spices and sucanat

Stir to evenly coat your fruit. Then fill with water until the fruit is almost covered, but not quite.

Turn on the crockpot to high for 2- 2 1/2 hours.

Your fruit will be soft when it is done.

Serve warm and enjoy! It is really yummy with vanilla ice cream, just sayin!
