Flavors?

Before I started this blog, I found my self often venting to my husband about the common misconception that healthy food is labeled as nasty, tasteless, bland food.  Where did that come from? Does that mean that before the invention of processed food became available for consumption, that our poor ancestors were doomed to a life of bland food and unexcited taste buds?  On the contrary! They are the ones that perfected the use of Earth's natural flavors! We, as an American culture, have simply chosen to not continue their legacy, and have instead adapted a craving for fat, salt, and sugar.

Herbs and spices are responsible for most of the healthy, natural flavors that are used in cooking today, and there are so many of them! Not only that, but the natural flavors in the raw foods that we eat (fruits, vegetables, grains, legumes) are packed with so many exciting flavors!

I love food. My husband loves food. We love to eat food, and our food has to taste amazing.  My goal for this blog is to share my enjoyment with cooking and eating food that is healthy, and to convince others that you can still eat great while enjoying a healthy lifestyle.  I hope this blog will help you realize the joy that comes from creating your own flavorful and healthy meals right from your own kitchen!
